2025-26 O-Pee-Chee First Look

base & retro

base border parallels & retro black border

The first info and images for 2025-26 O-Pee-Chee hockey have been released into the wild. I am disappointed to see that the configuration of the release is essentially exactly the same as the last three years. Playing cards are back for the 10th straight release! I have accepted these awesome cards becoming a mainstay, but Upper Deck needs to keep at least one additional insert fresh. Other than the playing cards, there has been a good track record of not sticking with a similar insert for more than three consecutive releases—until now. Sadly, the OKish, standard-size Premier inserts from the last three years are back again for 2025-26.

The base design would look pretty good if it did not include a maddening lack of color for the 10th straight OPC release. Thankfully, the retro design looks wicked, which might be the only thing saving this release from total disappointment.

There is a slight change to the base high-number short prints: 40 cards will feature players from the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. (The other 60 cards will be rookies as usual.) I am glad to see the silly “all-star” short prints that were nearly identical to the low-numbered base cards from the last three years go away.

Tentative release date is February 28, 2026.
