Overview: And we thought Project2020 was a mammoth set…now comes Topps Project70, originally intended to include 1,020 cards, 20 artistically-interpreted cards each from 51 different humanoids. That ended up being overly ambitious, and the set concluded with 936 cards made by 52 different creators. Unlike Project2020, the artists were free to choose their own players and Topps designs to use. This kept the huge set somewhat fresh, as every release was a surprise as to what players and designs were chosen. The cards were released from February 17, 2021 through February 9, 2022.
The cards listed at $19.99 apiece (with some quantity discounts available) and were available to order on Topps.com for 70 hours each.
Parallels: Each card has 70 foil variations, one gold frame variation, and 51 “artist proof” silver frame variations. The foils and gold frame were randomly inserted into orders, while the artist proofs were available to buy directly on Topps.com. Select cards had randomly inserted “chase” variations, while other select cards had autograph variations to buy directly.
