My latest incarnation of original sports card art are standard baseball card-sized team-specific collages. It has been a fun challenge to create an interesting and well-balanced collage at such a small scale. By obscuring player faces and incorporating many elements from cards and stickers that might be familiar to collectors, the cards become a celebration of both the card collecting hobby and the entirety of the team depicted, as opposed to any particular players. Jerry Seinfeld’s line about sports fans essentially “rooting for laundry” comes to mind. Card images of home stadiums, team logos, stickers, and other card design elements have all been incorporated.
